Five dogs who lived at property where a 14-year-old boy was fatally mauled in Dighton, Massachusetts, will be euthanized. According to multiple agencies, the dogs being put down may or may not have been involved in the death of Ryan Hazel, who was attacked and killed on May 9.
The dogs, described as Belgian malinois and Dutch shepherds, were being tended to by the teen. The dogs belong to Scott Dunmore, a local trainer who frequently utilized Hazel’s help. As reported by WCVB News, there were approximately 20 dogs at Dunmore’s property when Hazel was checking in on them – many of the dogs were caged and were not involved in the fatal mauling.
The decision to euthanize the dogs who were loose on the day of the attack was voted on by the Dighton Board of Selectmen. Dighton Selectman Chair Kenneth Pacheco stated, “It was a tough decision, however, it was the right decision.”

I take it no one saw or heard anything? I don’t understand why these dogs would suddenly turn on someone who they knew and who was taking care of them. How the Dighton Board of Selectmen can call this “the right decision” is beyond me. I’m sorry the boy lost his life, but I am willing to bet not all those dogs were to blame.
Can’t take the time to match up teeth marks this was NOT the right decision this was the EASIER WAY OUT !
