A 15-year-old German shepherd mix named Lassie hasn’t had the luck or love his name sake predecessor enjoyed beginning way back in 1954. The well-known series centered around a smart and fearless collie who performed heroic tasks for humans and animals alike.
Sadly Lassie was an owner surrender, and now waits at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center in California for someone to rescue him. No one knows if this 30-pound Lassie was brave, but as with most dogs in a family for so many years, it is very likely he was loyal; apparently not so from his owner.
“Not sure what is going on with this poor little guy in medical but he looks like he’s got a few scars and had some sort of cut on his back right hip which was shaved down to look at,” a rescue volunteer posted on Facebook hoping to find a qualified rescue organization or foster home to help.
He could definitely use a rescue. He’s too big to sit in the small medical room kennels. Let’s get this baby out. Pleas share. It saves lives.”
