A father and son duo illegally killed a hibernating bear and her two cubs and it was caught on video. According to multiple sources, the poachers, identified as Andrew, 41, and his 18-year-old son, Owen Renner, killed the slumbering bears on Esther Island in Prince William Sound – the horrifying incident was captured thanks to a camera set up by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and U.S. Forest Service.

The bears were killed in April 2018, but the video was only recently released by the Humane Society of the United States. The video shows the men approach the den on skis and then firing into the den – killing the mother bear and her screaming cubs. The poachers then pull the bear’s body out of the den and high-five each other, stating that “they’ll never be able to link it to us.”

The men were caught, charged and fined however – Owen was sentenced to 30 days of “suspended time” and Andrew was sentenced to three months behind bars. Andrew Renner’s hunting license has been suspended for 10 years.
