Dog surrendered for being too old

A handsome, purebred dog finds himself homeless at a busy Los Angeles County animal control agency after his family surrendered him, telling staff that the dog is “too old.” The Rottweiler, named Dino, has been at the Carson Animal Services facility since June 25 and he needs the help of strangers if he is to make it out alive.

The volunteer-run Facebook page, Saving Carson Shelter Dogs, writes:

He has the most incredible energy, he’s calm and sweet but his family that he has loved his whole life made him live outside and then left him at the Shelter at the absolute worst time of year because he is now “TOO OLD” according to them. He needs help fast, the Shelter is Full. Please SHARE for his life, he’s SO special and a FOSTER or ADOPTER would save him. Thanks!

Adding details from his intake:

I am already neutered. I have been at the Carson Animal Care Center since 6/25. I will be available on 6/25. You can visit me at my temporary home at C310. My former family who owned me for about 6 months had to give me up because they thought I had gotten too old. But they said that I spend most of my time outdoors, but it’s not ideal.

Dino did nothing to deserve his current predicament – he can’t help his age and he certainly can’t help the fact that his previous owner did not care enough about him to keep him forever. Please lend this deserving dog a hand by sharing his adoption information – networking saves lives!

  1. SOMEDAY THE SELFISH LUNATIC WILL BE “TOO OLD”!

PLEASE SAVE DINO, THE INNOCENT DEFENSELESS VICTIM–THIS IS A HIGH KILL SHELTER!

  2. WTF is wrong with people??? Most of us want our furbabies to be with us for as long as possible and we savor each and every day our precious treasures are with us……

This so called family who gave up Dino has reserved places in Hell waiting where they will burn forever for their cruelty……

I hope Frosted Faces or Leave No Paws Behind or another rescue group can save Dino. He deserves to be treated as a beloved family member for however long a time he has left and not die in the shelter alone, afraid and (worst of all) unloved…….
