Nobody came to get this senior shepherd
Spread the love

Nearly two months ago, a handsome senior German shepherd was taken in at a Los Angeles County animal control agency. The nine-year-old dog, dubbed Raffles, is well-behaved and even knows some commands – evidence that he once had a family.

But nobody came to the shelter to reclaim him – so he sits, and he waits. Surely listening for a familiar voice, but losing hope with each passing day. California’s Downey Animal Care Center writes about Raffles’ demeanor:

Weighing sixty-nine pounds, Raffles has a medium energy level, pulls a bit on leash and knows how to ‘sit’ on command. He has a warm disposition; tolerates the other dogs in his playgroup and we think he will do beautifully with children who are mature enough to understand he is a senior and treat him respectfully. Raffles is a well-socialized and spectacular indoor pet for a family living in a private home.

Who owned you Raffles? Who took the time to socialize you and train you, but did not search for you when you disappeared?

Saving Raffles

Busy, open-intake animal control agencies are not able to hold dogs indefinitely. Raffles has been at this crowded facility for nearly two months and he could use some help right now. Please share this article and help him find a new owner, who will love and care for him for the rest of his life.
