A family in Kansas City, Kansas, is mourning the loss of their eight pet goats who were brutally beaten in a senseless act of violence. As reported by KCTV 5 News, the Elder family was away from home last Thursday when someone attacked their goats in an enclosure on their property.
Debbie Elder told the news agency that her 14-year-old grandson went to feed the goats on Thursday evening when he made the grim discovery – eight goats, including babies and pregnant mothers-to-be, were dead in their pen. She told KCTV about the goats who had been raised since their were very young:
“These babies were our babies. They’re not just livestock. We didn’t keep them for their milk, we didn’t keep them to make cheese. We loved these babies.”
The authorities are investigating the cruel case and have indicated that whoever is responsible will likely face felony charges.
