He cried out for help, but no one heard him, or maybe no one cared. And thus the heartbreaking tale of an emaciated dog, who for a prolonged period of time in rural South Carolina, had been locked in a crate with no food, water or even minimal care.

On Tuesday afternoon, Rescue Dogs Rock NYC posted the story about Colton after he arrived at a South Carolina shelter in terrible shape. Emaciated, covered in fleas and his urine burned blistered paws must have caused unimaginable pain and suffering, yet Colton had suffered in silence as if he didn’t exist.

“We just learned that poor Colton was locked in a crate or the like for quite a while and is all urine scalded. that’s what the blisters on his paws are from evil monsters walk among us,” Stacey Silverstein, co-founder of the organization posted on Facebook with the graphic photos of the terribly neglected dog.

Colton has been transferred to the organization’s partner veterinarian where he is receiving emergency help and being administered pain medication.

Updates to follow.
