In Arcadia, Florida, a dying man in a coma cried as his faithful dog laid his head on his human’s hand. Everyone who knew the homeless victim, Juan Diego Sebastian, agreed the man never hurt anyone. Townspeople rushed to help as soon as they found out someone had severely beaten the man earlier this month.
Early Friday morning the 69-year-old man died as a result of serious brain trauma.
According to Wink News, Sebastian never regained consciousness. Many people who knew him gathered by his bedside; one area resident in particular had helped the man for the past ten years; for two weeks, Tammy Ramos sat by his side in the hospice center and squeezed his hand.
Sebastian’s small dog Cheeto had always been at his side. Tammy tells the heart wrenching story:
“They brought the dog up to hospice. And we laid him on the bed. And at this point, Juan was pretty bad. And we put Juan’s hand on Cheeto and then Cheeto laid his head on his hand and it was the weirdest thing because tears started coming out of Juan’s eyes.”
Tragically Juan died shortly after the two were reunited. The person responsible for the assault and now a man’s death has not been found.
As for Cheeto, he has been adopted by a member of the community.
Rest in peace Juan.
