Two dogs, being held in quarantine at a veterinary hospital in Irving, Texas, fatally injured their owner who came to visit them on Saturday morning. The dogs were being held at the O’Connor Animal Hospital because they had escaped from home and bitten someone earlier in the week.

The mauling victim has been identified as 33-year-old Johana Natalie Villafane, the dogs’ owner. The veterinary staff informed the authorities that the dogs attacked Villafane while she walked them in an enclosed area behind the veterinary building, reports NBC DFW.

After the dog attack was noticed, the police were alerted – but the dogs would not allow anyone near the woman and the authorities were forced to shoot them.

Villafane was transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas where she died from her injuries.

  1. Hmmm,,, the picture you posted is not even the dogs, as well you should say what type of dog these dogs were so people quit assuming they were pit bulls.

  2. Wow! What would make someone’s dogs turn on them like this! Unfortunately it puts another blot on the Pit Bull breed, gives the haters more fuel for their discrimination! Since the owner was there walking them, it sounds like they were loved. Rest in peace Ms Villafane,

  3. I am sure there is A LOT more to this story! So sorry pit bulls get a bad rap! I have a pitbull, and he is an angel dog!
