Once again Hercules waits at the front door of his kennel hoping someone will take him home. After spending one year at the South Los Angeles Shelter, it was heartbreaking to greet Hercules being returned. A shelter volunteer tells his story:

After a year at the South LA Shelter, he FINALLY got adopted. We were all beyond ecstatic … his day had finally come, one of our longest residents … and like that, ONE WEEK later he’s back.

… Speechless. Why did they return him? Because he was barking at the neighbor’s dogs. He did amazing with the family and kids, but I guess that wasn’t good enough.”

And here he is. Still waiting while his advocates describe themselves as heartbroken at this situation.

“So Hercules is back at the shelter and losing weight, you can tell he is completely broken,” a Facebook post read hoping to help the dog find a new home – this time for a home he can have forever.

  1. Potential adopter needs to know there is more to this return. He was barking reactively toward neighbor dogs. Fence fighting. The adopter’s son could not get him under control or to stop in this situation. This behavior scared him to was too much for him, and made the decision to return Hercules. Unfortunately, not every adopter is going to be experienced enough to deal with unexpected behaviors. I’m one of the volunteers who loves Hercules dearly, and he does not need to be failed by humans again. It’s best to know the full story.
We also feel Hercules is best as a one and only.
He qualifies for 6 weeks of FREE training at the Lancaster State Prison with the Paws For Life Shelter Paws program.

  2. DUMP THE HEARTLESS BRANLESS LUNATICS FOR TALKING–THAT MAKES AS MUCH SENSE!
