In Williamsburg, New York, a dog thief was caught on a surveillance camera allegedly stealing a 10-year-old terrier from outside of a grocery store on Monday.
According to CbsNews, the dog, named Theo, had been left leashed outside of the Green Corner Fish and Farmers Market on the corner of Humbolt Street and Flushing Avenue by his owner. When Theo’s owner came back for her dog, after making a quick purchase, only Theo’s leash was left.
Surveillance footage released by police, show a man in a blue shirt walk by the dog and unleash him. When the dog wouldn’t walk beside him, the man grabbed the dog by its collar and carried it away.
Bree Kelly, the 21-year-old owner, has had the 10-year-old dog ever since she was a child and is desperate to find him. The police have been notified and a call to social media contacts is hoped to locate the dog; a large cash reward has been offered. The owner states all she wants is a safe return of Theo, and she will not pursue any criminal charges.
Theo has an underbite, cloudy eyes and a lump on his thigh. Anyone with information is asked to call NYPD CrimeStoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782 for Spanish.
