In catlike fashion, a pit bull traveling near Puyallup, Washington, managed to survive a harrowing fall from a trailer which was being pulled along Highway 512. The dog, dubbed Freeway Pittie, did not escape unscathed however.

After being scooped up by the local animal control agency, Freeway Pittie was taken to a veterinary hospital in Tacoma and they found that she had broken teeth and other maladies, including infections, and swelling around her eyes.

The pup has been taken under the wing of Puyallup Animal Rescue, which provided a promising update to Facebook followers on Monday:

Freeway Pittie is healing and enjoying her time with her foster family. Once her infections are cleared up she will have all her surgeries. It does look like she will need eye surgery also. We would like to thank everyone who helped her when she fell on 512, the ACOs at Metro Animal Services, the staff at Animal Hospital of Parkland PLLC, our volunteers and all the donors.

According to Puyallup Patch, Freeway Pittie will likely be adopted by one of the veterinary techs who assisted her.

  1. So glad Pittie will be well cared for and away from the “careless” and “brainless”
lunatics RESPONSIBLE FOR HER FALL! Please advise if donations are still necessary.

  2. I take it the POS that had the dog in the trailer never missed the poor thing. They need to be found and charged so it doesn’t happen again!
