A young dog believed to have been stolen during a smash and grab in Castro Valley has been found dead near the freeway.

The year-and-a-half brown and white Shih Tzu named “Rocky” had been taken during the robbery on Friday night in a parking lot located at 580 Marketplace Shopping Center located on East Castro Valley Boulevard in Castro Valley.

According to CbsNews, Rocky’s owner Angie Maurer and her sister Aileen Pangilinan previously had placed flyers all around the neighborhood asking people to keep an eye out for the dog.

“He’s 12 pounds, he is white, he has a mask, the coloring is reddish brown. “He is our family … that’s all I can say … and he is sick and needs medication and needs help,” Angie pleaded.

Pangilinan had been dog sitting for Rocky and left her car with the dog and her purse for two minutes to pick up an order of food at a nearby restaurant. When she returned the smashed glass from the car’s window was all that remained. And that’s how fast it all took for this tragedy to have occurred.

Rest in peace little guy.
