A dog walking with his owner was able to assist the police after a terrible car versus pedestrian accident in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. As reported by North Jersey News, a 64-year-old man was crossing the road, in a crosswalk, when he was struck be a car on Wednesday night.

The man, who had no form of identification with him, was walking his dog, Mr. Winkles when the incident happened. According to Patch, the American Bulldog was able to lead the authorities to his home, five blocks away. Thanks to the dog’s assistance, the seriously injured man’s family was able to be informed about what happened.

The man, who has not been identified, was critically injured and taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center for care. His dog escaped the accident unscathed.
