Days ago, a seemingly abandoned dog was found tied to a pole in West Haven, Connecticut. The older mixed breed dog had been tethered to the pole with a red necktie.

In a Facebook post which has been widely shared and commented on, the West Haven Animal Shelter detailed what was known about the dog:

We are asking for the public’s assistance at this time regarding this sweet girl who was found tied to a pole Saturday, July 27th between the hours of 9:00-2:00 at the apartment complex at 998 Campbell ave.

Adding:

We understand that sometimes the options are limited in rehoming your animals, but there are options and this is absolutely unacceptable(and against the law).

The shelter’s post was created in an effort to find out who the dog belonged to and apparently it was successful. The original post has since been updated notifying the public that the owner of the dog has been found:

We want to thank you all for your support. We have found the owner, and at this time this is an ongoing investigation.

No further details about the dog or her owner have been released.
