A dog, recently discovered standing guard over the body of his deceased owner, is in need of a new home. As reported by WILX News, animal control found Honey “clutching” his owner last Thursday. Honey was so distraught that animal control was contacted by the deceased individual’s brother, who found himself unable to tear the heartbroken dog away from his guardian’s body.
Now Honey is in the care of the Jackson County Animal Shelter. Shelter director Lydia Sattler told the news agency, “He is just feeling very lost right now. He doesn’t know what happened or why he is here, You can see it in his eyes.”
On June 28, the animal welfare agency wrote:
We try to keep our posts positive and upbeat, but this boy needs his story told.
This 5 year old Terrier was found during a welfare check on his owner. Sadly, his loving dad was found deceased and he was still laying on him when Animal Control arrived.
Our hearts are broken and we know his is too. His life has been completely turned upside down. We really want to find him a loving family to help him heal his heart as quickly as possible.
Please come meet him today. His name is Honey.

Why is it no one in the deceased owner’s family doesn’t take pity on this poor dog. I can imagine how frightened Honey is and he is dumped at a shelter. I hope and pray someone will take the little fella in and show him the love he so needs right now.
