A storm of controversy is brewing in St. Louis, Missouri, following the death of a recently rescued dog dubbed Faust, who was found near death, days ago on a sidewalk. Faust was discovered by a postal worker who called for help – she was nearly frozen when she was picked up by rescuers who carried her away in blankets.

The stricken dog was taken in by Stray Rescue of St. Louis, but later transferred to Veterinary Specialty Services for specialized care. Unfortunately, a bite incident at the veterinary hospital resulted in the dog being turned over to animal control and ultimately, Faust was euthanized.

Stray Rescue has lashed out publicly about the deadly situation – writing:

Please excuse the rawness of the video I used my phone. Faust was killed , her life didn’t matter to VSS or County animal control. Please watch the video then do something! It could be your dog next. Love and woof, Randy

But the animal control agency where Faust was euthanized has defended the decision. In a press release, Saint Louis County Animal Control stated that Faust showed signs of neurological deficiency which could be indicative of rabies – the agency has also stated that she was suffering.

The veterinary tech who was bitten by Faust is being treated and will undergo standard rabies protocol for the injury.

    • Demand they provide evidence of a bite. This is a public agency and must comply to public demands for information. Demand to see the bite report as well as the blood work from the dog which better indicate the dog had rabies. It is almost impossible for that dog to have rabies. Very few animals ever have rabies. If these are false reports, any employee who participated in this cover up must be fired because they are lying to tax payers.

  1. Omg, rescued then to be murdered. May God have mercy on your pathetic souls who did this to fausto. Vet tech can lose their fucking arm leg or whatever they claimed she bit.

Demand to see the bite report as well as the blood work results which caused them to suggest the dog had rabies. If these are false reports, they employees can be fired for lying to tax payers.

  2. I am totally outraged and disappointed that VSS would do this!! But mostly these decision killed Faust!!! I have been following her story an just donated to her care yesterday! I’m glad u guys will no longer use their care! I will b writing or calling them about this messed up decision that took her life!!

  3. So extremely sad that Fausto lost her life because of a dog bite that occurred while she was being treated. I would assume this dog was in such pain and when a dog is like that, you do not touch them unless you have them muzzled where they can’t bite anyone or anything. Fausto had no idea the vet tech was helping. All she knew was someone was touching and she was in pain. The VSS should have contacted the stray rescue of St. Louis to let them know what happened and leave the decision of sending her to the shelter to be euthanized in their hands. This poor man who gives his life for these animals said in this video that they were on their way to get her when she was transferred to the shelter to be killed. This man (Randy?) said they have facilities to quarantine or even euthanize if necessary. The VSS should never be allowed to make a decision like this ever again especially when this rescue was paying for Fausto’s care. RIP Fausto, you were loved by many.

    • Demand the police report regarding the bite and also demand the blood work test as they are claiming the dog had rabies. It’s almost impossible these days for a dog to have rabies. If they are covering up their actions, they need to be fired.

  4. Part of the job of a vet tech if getting bitten on occasion, and that’s if you’re not paying attention. Also all vet techs should be vaccinated for rabies before starting the job, are you people assholes. Blame everything on the sick innocent animal and not on the stupid ass people who should know how to do their job. Fire them and get people with brains in place of them.

  5. Since Stray Rescue rescued this dog they were the “owner” of this dog NOT VSS! Stray Rescue should have been contacted BEFORE anything was decided. I wouldn’t use them under any circumstances and I’m glad Stray Rescue isn’t going to either! RIP Faust you’re life DID matter!

  6. This is a hard pill to swallow. Who does these people think they are? God, well, they are not. Vss should have called stray dogs before doing anything with Faust. Bunch of assholes.

  7. This veterinary office should be investigated for wantonly ignorance of the owners who brought this dog in !! I was a veterinary technician and this is outrageous!!

  8. What kind of people are running Saint Louis County Animal Control, after all why would a dog that had been frozen and almost dead exhibit neurological signs (sarcasm)? At the very least Stray Rescue of St. Louis should have been contacted before anything was done! Rest in peace Faust, at least someone tried to help you!

  9. So the poor dog almost died from freezing to death and was probably scared out of her mind and may have struck out. We don’t know the circumstances, but if she just bit somebody she’s slaughtered??? What is wrong with this picture???
Fuckin people can go out and kill scores of people and nothing happens to them; they get the three hots and a cot plus medical and dental care for decades. I’ll tell you the truth — we don’t have a justice system because there is no justice. I hope the savage maggot who administered the fatal needle, suffers. I hope they rot from the inside out, very slowly and with lots of pain.

  10. fausto wasn’t the best patient because she was in pain and scared. knowing this the staff should have protected fausto from herself and protected others. education to prevent this from happening in the future. taking the easy way always leads to tears. rip beautiful animal.

  11. This is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS! What kind of “people” work at VSS?!??!? They should be shut down or at a minimum subject to more oversight! And this tech who was bitten….needs to find another line of work.
God forgive the bastards who were part of this, because I can’t/won’t!

  12. Rabies? Really? Was this baby tested for rabies? Or did they assume. Babie had been frozen. Its painful thawing out. Oh my goodness… was she scared also??? You want everyone to believe rabies? Weres the test results?

  13. Rabies? Really? Were are the test results? You cant assume anything. Were are the facts. A scared dog in pain, thawing out? Of course she nat bite. You all should have known…i think you are lying!!!
