Late last week, an exhausted dog, frightened and alone, was found swimming near an oil rig in the Gulf of Thailand, over 135 miles from shore. According to multiple sources, the female dog was discovered on Friday by workers on the oil rig – the dog swam to the structure after the workers called out to her.

Workers on the offshore rig were able to secure a rope around the dog and pull her to safety. By Monday, the wayward pooch was back on dry land after being transported via boat – she is being transferred to an area animal welfare agency for care.

As reported by the Bangkok Post, it is surmised that the dog may have fallen from a fishing vessel. If an owner does not come forward to claim her, she may have a forever home with Vitisak Payalaw, with the Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production’s oil drilling team.
