A Lake County woman was arrested on Friday after the sheriff from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office spotted her stopping on the side of the road and leaving her dog.

According to the Lake Count Sheriff’s Office press release, the disturbing incident was witnessed by local police officer Todd Luce, who noticed the pit bull being pushed out of a tan colored car along South Bay Street in Eustis. As the woman drove off, the dog started to run after her in the busy traffic.

Anna Kist, 18, was pulled over after authorities were successfully able to rescue the friendly dog. Kist is alleged to have been “amused” that her dog ran in and about traffic nearly getting hit.

Kist told authorities she and her sister could no longer afford the dog, and this was her solution.

“Deputies and LCSO Animal Enforcement Officers responded and noted that the animal was severely malnourished but in good spirits (as seen in the pictures).

Ms. Kist was arrested and charged with animal abandonment and has since been released on a $1,000 bond and the dog was released to Lake County Animal Services.

It should be noted that this situation is EASILY avoided. That is what the Lake County Animal Shelter is here for. Check out lakecountyfl.gov/offices/animal_services/ for more information.”

  1. Yeah real funny lady, I suppose you would have laughed out loud if the dog had been killed! There is a special place in hell for her and her sister, there was no reason to abandon a dog like this, as they said, that is what Lake County Animal Services is there for!
