A young dog allegedly belonging to a deployed member of the military finds himself homeless at a Florida animal shelter. As reported by ABC Action News, the one-year-old Mastiff mix, named Wade, was surrendered to the Hernando County Animal Services facility by someone claiming that he was a stray…but some sleuthing has led shelter staff to a different story.

Wade has a microchip and though the shelter was unable to reach the individual listed as a contact, they did find someone who shed more light on the dog’s situation. The shelter was told that the person who surrendered Wade was actually a man who was supposed to be caring for the dog while his owner was deployed.

James Terry, director of Hernando County Animal Services, told the news agency:

He pretty much dumped him and gave a false story.

Efforts have been made to reach Wade’s true owner, but so far, the shelter has not been successful.

Nobody knows if the stories about Wade are true – the people who have spoken to staff members have been relatively uncooperative.

Right now, a new home is being sought for the big puppy. If you are interested in learning more, please reach out to the Hernando County Animal Services at 352-796-5062 or find them on Facebook here.

If they would take ID from the people who turn these animals and then they would have a better contact point to go back to of who turn an animal in. Maybe they can hold some people accountable for falsifying and dumping off their own dogs or animals

I truly believe the owner would be ABSOLUTELY “LIVID.” Please keep trying to contact him! Otherwise, PLEASE–find Wade a loving caring home!

Are donations needed? Please update on how Wade is doing!

I hope they are able to find the true owner. For someone to promise to take a dog until the owner is back from his duty and then do this is horrible. I hope someone will step up and foster this dog until the owner returns.

Contact Dogs on deployment they will find a foster till their person is home. I hate people. Dumping off geriatric pups at shelters seems to be a trend

An ABC news story update stated that Wade will be fostered by Big Dogs Rescue.

I hope that this puppy is eventually reunited with his original parent!!!

I also really hope that the disgusting POS who dumped this precious treasure gets a nasty dose of karma……. He deserves to burn in Hell forever for his cruelty AND his betrayal of a friend (who is putting his life at risk for all of us here in the US)……
