Dog abandoned with cardboard sign reading ‘homeless’

Recently, a dog was abandoned in Brooks County, Georgia, with a blanket, food and water, and a cardboard sign reading “homeless.” As if the few items left would somehow make up for leaving the dog in the middle of nowhere to fend for himself…

A person involved with rescuing this abandoned dog penned a letter to his former owner, writing:

To the person that dumped this sweet soul:

You had options. You didn’t have to take the time to staple and tape a “Homeless” sign together and dump him on the side of the road with a blanket and food and water. You put him in a very dangerous situation. Not only was it in the middle of no where, but he felt the need to protect the only things he had left to remember you by.

When anyone would try to approach, he would feel the need to protect himself. Did you ever think how he felt watching you put the sign up. Setting up his bowls. Laying his blanket out. Not knowing the person he has given his loyalty to was about to turn and walk away.

Adding:

You had to have cared for him at some point and time. He is really smart. He knows how to sit and shake. I understand things happen. I understand circumstances can change on a dime. But what you did is unforgivable. These animals love with every part of their being.

A group of like-minded animal lovers were able to rescue the discarded dog, who has been dubbed Renfroe.
