A disabled senior dog, unable to properly use his hind legs, has been taken in at an animal shelter in Rockwall, Texas. The eight-year-old Chihuahua, dubbed Lieutenant, has been given a wheelchair to use at the shelter, and now, staff is hopeful that a loving new owner can be found to take him in.

On Wednesday, the Facebook page, Rockwall Adoptions, wrote:

Meet Lieutenant. He was found by Rockwall Sheriffs Dept. and never reclaimed. He is a 8 year old Chihuahua that weighs 10-12 lbs. When the sheriff brought him to RAC, we knew something was wrong. Since he was unwilling to use his back legs. But we soon realized it was an injury that did some damage to the nerves in his spine.

We are still unsure at this time as to whether he will get back full movement of his back legs or not, but we have tried him in a doggy wheel chair and he has started using it like a champ!

Check out his wheels!

What a cutie and he really got use to those wheels quickly. It even looks like his back paws are not dragging behind but that he is using them. Maybe he just needs this and his legs or whatever injury he has will get better. Someone in the area needs to adopt this boy. He would make some pet parent so happy. What a love bug.

Aww, bless his precious heart, what a gorgeous little Officer he is, and Lieutenant nonetheless. My Thoughts and Prayers for Lieutenant are that he will soon meet his ideal human/s who will be also able to source a wheelchair for him, even if via GoFundMe – I know I’d donate to help him have a happy life, as I’m sure would many who receive this newsletter. Keep your hopes high little man.
Come on America, do this little guy proud.
