A desperate search is underway for a dog who disappeared after the truck he was in was stolen from a gas station in Black Diamond, Washington. Monkey, a standard sized poodle, was inside of Carl Sanders’ 2018 Ford Raptor truck when a brazen thief hopped inside and drove away on Friday afternoon.
The bold theft happened at a Cenex gas station while Sanders was inside buying a beverage – the suspect, identified on surveillance video as 36-year-old Anthony Chilcott, hopped inside of the truck and drove away while the gas nozzle was still in the truck’s tank.
As reported by KIRO News, Chilcott was just released from jail on November 13. Carl’s wife, Stefanie, tells the news agency, “He’s a danger to the people around him.”
The Sanders are offering a $5,000 reward for the safe return of their four-year-old dog. Carl said, “I just need to know our puppy is okay.”
The authorities believe that Chilcott may have headed outside of Washington state – possibly towards Nevada. Everyone is asked to be on the lookout for the charcoal-gray Ford Raptor truck with Washington plates C96374L.
