Deplorable conditions discovered at a suspected dog breeding operation have resulted in the arrest of a woman in Georgia. According to multiple sources, Angela Powell has been running a puppy mill operation. A man who works near Powell’s “business” told WSAV News, “We’ve witnessed dogs beaten with shovels to death um just things you wouldn’t believe going on in your backyard.”
On Wednesday, the Guardians of Rescue addressed the situation:
Today, members of Guardians of Rescue, along with members of Making of Miracle Stories Animal Rescue began moving dogs from the Montgomery County location after an in-depth assessment of the dogs physical and behavioral condition. Fortunately, none of the dogs were found to have heartworm, or any concerning behavioral issues.
Many people are asking us about the dogs which had been moved to Candler County. Guardians is actively working on both cases. We are going to allow the Sheriffs Department there to comment publicly on the Candler County dogs. We do expect to be moving dogs from that location as well.
On Thursday, WSAV News reported that Powell was arrested by Candler County Sheriff Deputies who were serving a search warrant obtained after allegations of animal cruelty were reported.
