Animal control officers are investigating after a disturbing discovery was made in north Shreveport, Louisiana. As reported by ArkLaTex Homepage, the body of a decomposing dog was found inside of a crate which was thrown out alongside a road.

The discarded dog still had a chain around its neck, but there was no form of identification found on the dog’s body. Officers with the Caddo Parish Animal Control scanned the dog’s body twice for a microchip, but nothing was found, which makes finding an owner nearly impossible.

Information needed

The deceased dog and crate were found on North Thomas Drive off of Grimmett Drive. Anyone who has information about the dog, or this situation, is asked to call the shelter at 318-226-6624. Caddo Parish animal control officers have said that illegal dumping of animals is a problem in the area, and they remind residents that it is illegal to do so.
