In Los Feliz, California, a couple is devastated after their puppy died while left in the care of a Rover dog sitter. The company is investigating the tragic situation and has removed the sitter from their platform.

According to Yahoo News, the nine-month-old pug named Shrimp was found dead by the pet sitter. Shrimp’s owners Victor Reznik and Constance Melkonian, had been on a trip to Spain, and when they returned received a message from the dog sitter that Shrimp had died while the sitter wasn’t home. The couple’s other dog, a five-year-old Boxer was fine.

The sitter had left the puppy’s body in a plastic tub on the porch for more than 48 hours and provided the couple with no explanation how the dog died. It is suspected Shrimp died of heat stroke, but a necropsy has not been performed to make a firm diagnosis.

As for the company, the couple were less than satisfied with their response.

Rover gave us a hundred-dollar credit to get a new dog walker. To vet new dog walkers were the words that they used, and they said that they can’t provide us with anymore information because of their confidentiality policy,” stated Reznik.

The company is currently investigating the puppy’s death.

  1. They could take their $100 credit to “vet” a new dog walker and you know what they could do with it! I would never use this service again. They need to do a necropsy and if there was negligence, they need to sue! This isn’t the first time a “Rover” dog sitter has dropped the ball!
