Authorities in Las Vegas, Nevada, responded to a domestic violence call last Friday and discovered a dead pit bull tied to a fence. According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, Jason Washington, 36, and Ashley Duque, 31, were arrested and are facing charges of torture or unjustifiably maim, mutilate or kill a dog; unlawful restraint of a dog; insufficient dog pen or enclosure; and torture/injure/abandon/starve animal.
The dog, an adult brindle-colored pit bull, was tied to a wrought-iron fence with a short nylon cord. Duque told officers that she had tied the dog to the fencing and “was leaving.” When officers checked on the dog, the reported seeing blood around the mouth, stiff out-stretched legs and flies.
The couple has pleaded not guilty to the charges – they remain in custody at the Clark County Detention Center.
