In Pensacola, Florida, a disturbing case involving a convicted sex offender has escalated to new charges after the man was accused of raping a child under 12 years of age and having sex with her dog. Joseph Dewayne Philyaw, 38, was served with a warrant on Monday; he had been serving time in the Florida Department of Corrections for a prior sex crime conviction and set to be released on Wednesday.
According to WkrgNews, Philyaw is a registered sex offender and had been serving two years in prison from May 2017 for lewd and lascivious behavior with a 14-year-old child. New charges against him were said to have occurred between 2011 and 2017 – before the accused went to prison.
Philyaw now faces three counts of sexual battery on a child under 12-years-old, two counts of battery of a child and engaging in sex with a dog. The girl disclosed to investigators that not only did he force himself on her, but he also accepted money from men and women to have sex with her. In addition, Philyaw is alleged to have forced the girl to watch as he raped the family dog named Smiley and threatened the mother and brother if they didn’t cooperate. Whenever the dog would cry out, he would hit the pooch.
An update on the dog is not available.
Philyaw is at the Escambai County Jail and is being held without bond.
