Homeless dogs at Maricopa County’s community shelters were comforted by their animal loving friends on the Fourth of July. Droves of compassionate residents visited shelter pups – some with guitars, others with books – to help provide distraction from the loud celebratory mayhem outside.
On the holiday, the Facebook page for the Maricopa County Animal Care & Control commended the turnout and posted heartwarming images of the shelter visitors:

To the people who spent the 4th comforting our County’s shelter dogs: the staff and volunteers want you to know we are in love with you all right now. We have never been more proud of our animal loving community. You ROCK! People from all walks of life showed up to our community shelters tonight to make life just a little better for the homeless dogs in our care. You are spectacular and we (and the dogs) are grateful. We hope to see you all on New Year’s Eve. with gratitude, the shelter team.
Fireworks are extremely stressful to most animals – kudos to this community for doing their part to ensure that these homeless shelter pups were not alone. Great job!
