At Lake Ming in Bakersfield, California, a heartbreaking scene was caught on video Wednesday afternoon,  as a dog chased his owner’s car and tried to jump in after having been allegedly abandoned.

According to an eyewitness, who videoed the scene, the playful black dog thought his owner was just playing with him and frolicked happily until the man pushed him aside and left. As the faithful dog refused to leave his owner, the man struck the dog in the face several times trying in vain to discourage the dog from following him.

Desperate to stay with the man, the dog put his paws on the driver side door, but was ignored as the black sedan sped off. And still the dog didn’t give up and tried to chase the car – nearly getting hit by an oncoming vehicle. On his Facebook page, the eyewitness, Stephen Sage Silver posted the following information hoping to find the person responsible for abandoning his pet:

“Abandoned dog at Lake Ming

If you live in Bakersfield please share this. These people were hitting this dog in the face when I first approached them. They then abandoned the dog after the Male tried to get into a physical altercation with me. As he drove off he was yelling it’s your dog not mine (not exact words). Kern county animal services is working on a case and needs more information about the owners. Please share on any Kern County animal related groups. People like this need to be brought to justice.

Car is a Chevy Malibu I think.

While videoing the distressing situation, Stephen Sage Silver can be heard stating:

“Hell no, that’s your dog man. This guy is dumping his dog right there. That’s f***** up! ”

“As he drove off he was yelling it’s your dog not mine (not exact words). Kern county animal services is working on a case and needs more information about the owners. Please share on any Kern County animal related groups. People like this need to be brought to justice.”

The Kern County Animal Shelter is currently caring for the dog. He will be available for adoption on February 11.

Many thanks to the dog’s hero – Stephen Sage Silver. If you see something, say something. We can all work together and fight animal cruelty.

  1. Hope they find this scum and if he is the owner of this playful pup, hope they make him pay for the care of this dog until he is adopted and also file animal cruelty charges against him with a heavy fine. Gosh, would someone do that to their child if they no longer wanted them too?

  2. If this was videotaped, why don’t the police have the license plate number, the make & year of car, description of the perpetrators? Find them!!!

  3. I already saw this video fuming in anger can’t watch it the second time otherwise I will find this low life POS my self tie the bastard to the back of my car and drive 140 mph till his damn limbs fall off. This is an example of a real cold hearted subhuman. Can he imagine when he was 1 years old climbing on his shit mother’s lap and she smacked him away and threw him in the woods left to die she should have done it. Hope this evil bastard gets cancer now and rots before I beat his ass.

  4. Poor, poor, poor baby! His world is shattered now!! And he did nothing wrong!! Shame, shame, on his owners 4 abandoning this beautiful dog! I hope and pray this sweet pup finds a good 4ever home! And I hope they find these worthless people that did this!!

  5. I hope they find this asshole and charge him with abandoning his dog and charge him to the fullest poor little guy. Hope he is alright.

  6. The dog is better off gone from these evil people. I pray the dog finds a loving home and these subhumans are punished to the fullest extent of the law. They should not be allowed to have a pet cockroach.

  7. I see a license plate on the car…the police can easily look it up, go to the owner and arrest him. The video will clearly show if they are arresting the correct person.

  8. I saw on the news that the guilty party is now saying that he didn’t dump the dog, but just felt sorry for him, stopped to give him something to eat, and then couldn’t get rid of him. What kind of person stops his car and gets out to give a dog a bite to eat, and then drives off and leaves the poor desperate animal behind? It doesn’t make sense, and I believe the man is LYING. If he really wanted to help the dog, he would take him to where he could be helped, not try to ditch him while the dog is trying to get into his car. I call B.S. !!
