The cruelty case, involving a neglected German shepherd who died of heatstroke after being abandoned in a metal cage, is closed. As reported by Fox 29 News, the Maricopa County Animal Care Center reached out to the public about the disturbing case on Friday – detailing how an emaciated German shepherd had been discovered inside of a cage in Phoenix, Arizona.

Jose Santiago with MCACC described the poor condition the dog was in:

“This dog appeared to be in very severe shape. It appeared to be malnourished. It appeared to be suffering from heat-related symptoms.”

The animal welfare agency said that the ailing dog was found near the area of 32nd Street and Broadway sometime before 1:03 p.m. on Friday – the four to five-year-old shepherd was seizing from heatstroke and ultimately died after his core temperature climbed over 109 degrees.

The dog appeared to have been to a veterinarian recently – he was found with blue vet wrap on his front paw and a shaved area on his rear paw.

Despite the grim manner this dog suffered, the authorities have concluded their investigation and have stated that there will be no charges filed and no further information released.

  1. There WAS Something VERY Wrong DONE HERE by the Sheriff’s Department as to WHY NO CHARGES WERE filed ABOUT the MISTREATMENT of this YOUNG GERMAN SHEPARD >>> JOE ARPIRO WOULD NOT HAVE ALLOWED THIS TO HAPPEN ON HIS WATCH!!!!

  2. Cops don’t have time to deal with it?? So case closed…what a lazy bunch of ass****s!!! Hell waits for those with no compassion!!

  3. WHY SO SECRETIVE WHAT ARE THEY HIDING? If you live in or near this county this should be VERY CONCERNING to all. There needs to be some public outcry on this !

  4. So who did this, someone the cops obviously don’t want to charge or deal with for some reason. Shame on them for not charging someone for allowing this to happen to this dog!
