U-haul hijacked, dog shot and killed

Carjacker attacks man, steals rented U-haul and then kills his dog

A violent carjacker attacked a man outside of a Houston, Texas, motel, stealing his rented U-Haul truck and then killing his dog. As reported by ABC 13 News, Matthew Schultz was sitting in the U-haul with his dog, Mushu, on Sunday night when he was attacked by a man who punched him in the face before taking control of the truck and driving away with the dog still inside.

The attack took place outside of the Studio 6 Extended Stay at 14255 Northwest Freeway – the stolen U-haul was found by the police one night later at a Shell gas station four miles away. Schultz’s beloved dog was still inside…dead from a gunshot wound.

Tips needed

Schultz did not get a clear look at his attacker, but recalls that the man was dark skinned and wearing a red hat.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. Tips can be made anonymously online at www.Crime-Stoppers.org.

Fundraiser

The carjacker not only stole the U-Haul, and killed the dog, but he stole $4,000 in cash that Schultz and his fiancé  were using for a new apartment. A fundraiser has been set up to help them get back on their feet – learn more here.
