Dog abandoned in cage is a sweetheart

Caged dog abandoned in lake is ‘a sweetheart’

Veterinary staff caring for a dog who was caged and abandoned in a lake in Illinois have described her as a “sweetheart.” Photos of the young dog, posted by the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital, are a far cry from the sad images released by a friend of the fisherman who found the abandoned dog.

Gone is soaked, freezing and downtrodden pup – today this sweet dog is bright-eyed and apparently brimming with gratitude for being saved.

The veterinary hospital writes:

An update on the Kaufman Lake doggie from Dr. Jenica Harashak, a specialist in emergency and critical care who was at the hospital yesterday when the pup arrived. “She is doing well! The team has been busy taking care of her today – she got a bath and her wounds are being treated.

Adding:

“She is a sweetheart and has been receiving lots of love and attention. Thank you to all of the people that have reached out and offered to help.”

As reported by My Fox 8 News, Bryant Fritz, the man who rescued the dog, is hoping to adopt her when she is ready to leave the veterinary hospital.
