Buttercup abandoned in a room by her family and left to die

In Ocala, Florida, Buttercup thought the family she went home with one day would love her and care for her forever. She had been adopted from a local shelter and had been a “happy, healthy and loving girl.”

For the first few months, life was perfect for Buttercup; her love for her family was unconditional. As time went on, however she spent more time alone, and for days she would sit patiently at the front door – staring at it and waiting for it to open so she could greet her family with her wagging tail and her sloppy kisses.

Tragically the hours ran into days, and as Buttercup grew hungry and her only water source was a nearby toilet, she grew weaker.

“…Starvation setting in. Desperate, starving and her body weak – her life slowly slipping away. That very family that promised to love her and protect her – abandoned her in a room to die,” wrote the Humane Society of Marion County.

Just two-weeks ago, Buttercup was discovered and rushed to the Humane Society of Marion County where the staff immediately began administering lifesaving care. Starvation can cause severe organ failure and so she struggles to keep down even the smallest amounts of food. Buttercup’s condition remains critical, but she is slowly improving.

  1. WOW!!! Mind blowing how cruel some POSs can be….. I don’t understand WHY someone would be this cruel……. How can someone be this cruel and still like what they see in the mirror??? There is NO law that “forces someone to have a furbaby”…… if you don’t want a furbaby, then don’t have one…..

I hope Buttercup heals ASAP and is rehomed into a loving furever family where she will be treated as a beloved family member.

Whoever did this to her (neglect and abuse) has a reserved spot in Hell waiting for them where they will burn forever for their cruelty……
