At the Harris County Animal Shelter, a bonded kitten and her best friend – a Chihuahua were surrendered on Tuesday because their owner left for college.

Meet eight-week-old tabby kitten  Laura (A540116) and her bestie Lily (A540115) – a four-year-old Chihuahua. The two love to snuggle together and would be the happiest if they can find a forever home together.

Meet the adorable bonded pair that was surrendered to Harris County Animal Shelter yesterday. Laura (A540116) is an 8-week-old, spunky tabby kitten and Lily (A540115) is a 4-year-old sweet, Chihuahua. The pair ended up here when their owner left for college and could not take them with her. They love to snuggle together. We would love to see them get adopted or rescued together. If you can help Laura & Lily please e-mail or visit Harris County Animal Shelter today when we open at 1pm. WTF kind of family is this??? If my parents had dumped our pets because I had gone to college, I would never have had anything to do with them again…….

I completely understand that one cannot and should not take pets to college (most college living situations forbid pets), but Mom & Dad getting rid of my pets would be a clear message to me that our relationship is over……

I wish I could help, but I am not “local”….. I am absolutely heartbroken for these two precious little treasures……. I hope they both are rehomed together in a loving furever home where they will be treated as beloved family members!!!
