Authorities issue warning about horses being slaughtered in Florida

Authorities in Florida have issued a warning about horses being slaughtered in the state. On December 16, the Sumter County  Sheriff’s Office alerted residents to the rising incidents of horses being stolen and then slaughtered for meat.

The authorities wrote:

We are still actively investigating the animal cruelty case that involved a horse being stolen and harvested for meat, from the Sumterville area. Although this is the only incident in Sumter County, through the investigation we have learned it is on the rise throughout the state

Earlier this month, a Manatee County woman’s horse was stolen and later found slaughtered for meat. A person of interest was spotted on surveillance entering the woman’s barn but no arrests have been made in the case.

A huge reward is being offered for information leading to whoever is responsible for the heartless crime. Anyone who recognizes this man is asked to contact the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office at (941) 747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at (866) 634-TIPS.

Anyone with information about the Sumter County horse slaughter is asked to come forward and contact the authorities at 352-793-2621 or to remain anonymous and eligible for a reward up to $1000 please contact Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
