A man in Atlanta, Georgia, has been arrested for allegedly setting a dog on fire. As reported by Fox 8 News, on Friday morning, police in Atlanta were called out to to the area of Ponce de Leon Place and Virginia Circle to investigate a suspicious storm drain fire – upon arrival, officers found a burning box containing the body of a small dog.
By the time that the authorities discovered the burning box, the dog was deceased.
After speaking with witnesses, officers were able to locate 29-year-old Jessie Collins, who had allegedly been seen carrying the box in the area before the grim discovery was made. Some witnesses claim that Collins had been seen trying to light the box on fire before leaving it in a storm drain.
The dog in the box was identified as a Yorkshire terrier – there was a cord around the canine’s neck. Collins was booked into the Fulton County Jail – it is unclear what charges he is facing.
