It has happened again – on Thursday morning another race horse was so grievously injured at the Santa Anita Park in California that she had to be put down. The death of Princess Lili B brings the total of dead race horses, since December, to a staggering 22.

Princess Lili B suffered two broken legs Thursday morning. As reported by NBC News, the three-year-old filly broke her front legs during a morning workout.

The track closed for a period of time to allow officials to investigate the horse deaths – it had only been open for a few days when Lili B suffered her life-ending injuries. Brad Free of the Daily Racing Form Tweeted:

Sad to report Princess Lili B broke both front legs at conclusion of half-mile workout Thursday at Santa Anita. Euthanized. Somber mood trackside. Training will continue this morning.

  1. How can this abuse of horses continue? 2 broken legs, that’s owners fault and track. Racing should be closed down as far as I’m concerned. Especially Racing youngsters. And the unwanted foals and thrown away racers when careers over

  2. WHY ISN’T THIS BEING MORE THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED? OBVIOUSLY THE HORSES ARE FORCED TO ENDURE MORE THAN THEY CAN TAKE!

THIS “SLOW MURDER” OF HORSES FOR ENTERTAiNMENT AND GREED NEEDS TO BE BANNED!
