A Scottish animal cruelty officer comforted three dying dogs in a horrific animal cruelty case as authorities discovered dozens of pets living in filthy conditions at a home owned by Elaine Erskine. SPCA Inspector Jade Cumming cuddled the dying dogs – promising the suffering animals they were going to a better place.

According to The Sun, more than 30 dogs were discovered living in insufferable conditions when Erskine’s home was raided last March. A neighbor had called authorities about the stench and the noise coming from the cottage. The dogs had been kept locked up in cages and left in rooms full of garbage and animal feces and urine.

By the time authorities arrived, three of the dogs had to be humanely euthanized.

“All I could do was hold them and tell them they were going to a better place,” Inspector Cumming stated.

The other dogs in the home survived including a two-week-old puppy named Zoe who had been close to death. Tragically, two German shepherds named Arti and Rosie and a Jack Russell were put to sleep.

Erskine, 58, pleaded guilty to causing the unnecessary suffering of the dogs in what has been described by local authorities as the worst case of animal cruelty they had ever seen. Erskine  was ordered to serve 14 weeks in jail and has been banned from owning any pets for life. On appeal, she was not jailed, but ordered to serve 200 hours of unpaid work.

  1. I’m confused–they “instantly” decided to euthanize five?! Before donating I want to know what percentage they euthanise. I don’t want to donate to the cost of euthanizing dogs.

  2. Why do the judges sentence these ppl then turn around on an appeal and let them off with an easier sentence??? I will never understand this ..!!!
