A Calgary man, who sadistically abused a kitten and then used a blowtorch on his girlfriend’s cat, has been sentenced to two years in prison and will never again be allowed to own any pets.

According to CBCNews, Kurt Morgan, 23, pleaded guilty earlier this year to two animal cruelty offenses and was sentenced on Thursday by provincial court judge Anne Brown who called his actions “sadistic.”

In July 2018, Morgan grabbed a 12-week-old kitten named Zelda by the tail and slammed her head into a wall. The kitten died. After that, he took a six-year-old cat named Molly and used a blowtorch on her. The cat survived the abuse. Her chest, face, paws and one side of her face had been badly burned.

Morgan had been using the blowtorch to do drugs, and after he injured the cats, he called his girlfriend telling her the cat had killed the kitten and then accidentally ran into  the lit torch. Eventually the truth came out.

“I get mad, and when I get mad I can’t control my anger,” Morgan told the police officer.

Rest in peace little one.
