Dog returned to shelter after 6 years
Spread the love

A beautiful dog found herself homeless back in 2012, but she found a new family “relatively quickly.” But a happily ever after was not meant to be for lovely Sookie. According to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter, Sookie’s family returned her to the shelter after six years – citing their own “change of lifestyle” for the return.

A year later, Sookie continues to wait for her second chance. On Monday, the animal shelter wrote:

She was adopted relatively quickly and was returned, one year ago today, due to a change in lifestyle for the adopters. As per the adopters, Sookie is house trained and crate trained, she knows the commands “sit”, “stay” and “let go”. They even said she was active, playful and affectionate! And we can absolutely agree with all of this as Sookie has been chosen to be an office dog, so we have gotten to know her real well!

According to shelter staff, Sookie is a total “love” who loves attention – they wrote:

Sookie LOVES, and we mean LOVES attention! She has been known to come up to you and nudge your hand looking for a little love, but she also happily plays with her toys when you are busy. Sookie loves to curl up on her dog bed and snooze, but she is always up for a walk! Sookie also loves to play in the yard, and with all toys really. Sookie is quiet, Sookie is gorgeous and Sookie is deserving.

Will you please take a moment to help this deserving dog find a loving new family? Sookie prefers to be the only pet in the household. Please network her information and find her a home – she deserves better than life in a shelter kennel.

  1. This is just disgusting! Adopting a dog is a LIFELONG commitment! I bet the pieces of shit wouldn’t give up their child because of a “change in life style” so why the hell is it ok to do this to a dog!?! I hope they rot in hell!

  2. And what “change in lifestyle” was it that made them abandon their faithful dog after 6 years. I hope Sookie finds someone worthy of her love these POS’s certainly didn’t deserve it!
