In Alberta, Canada, a woman tried to mail small puppies and a kitten at the post office in Milo. Jill Marshall, 53, was charged under the Animal Protection Act, according to a news release from the Vulcan County Enforcement Services on Wednesday.
According to the Edmonton Journal, Marshall placed the small animals in a cardboard box on May 7 and again on May 17. In the first incident, a puppy and a kitten in the box had been labeled with an address and appropriate postage. The puppy and kitten had stamps attached to their heads. The second incident included another puppy in a small cardboard box.
During the investigation, the shipping addresses on the boxes were found to be fake. Live animals can not be mailed unless a previous agreement has been arranged.
Marshall now faces two counts of causing an animal distress. Officer Sgt. Rob Pintkowski stated Marshall has no previous animal related convictions.
