In Gwinnett County, Georgia, an abandoned dog survived two weeks locked in a closet after his owners were evicted from an area home.

According to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, deputies  C. Choi and K. Gunter “checked on a home that had been vacated approximately two weeks before and were dismayed to find an emaciated dog left abandoned in a closet.”

The dog was taken to the county animal shelter, where it has been reported he’s gaining weight and doing well. Deputies obtained warrants for his owner, Jerry Robinson, Jr. for animal cruelty.

“There’s no reason to ever leave any animal abandoned in an empty space. Our county has an animal shelter with caring animal lovers who do their best to help every animal in their care,” the organization posted on their Facebook page.

Many thanks to the officers for helping this dog. Everyone agrees he deserves a loving family.
