Nine-year-old pup Harry and his Shih Tzu pal George, 15 had been best friends; that is until George passed away last year. But time has not healed all wounds; even today Harry still leaves room in the bed they slept in together hoping he might someday return.
In this heartbreaking tale coming out of Cheshire, United Kingdom, the dogs’ owner Caitlin Wynne stated the two dogs did everything together. George was adopted in 2004 when he was a year old, and Harry joined the family as a puppy. According to the Metro, George suffered from kidney failure, and it was time to put him down.
“I slept on the sofa the night before we had George put to sleep to keep him company and Harry was pacing around the room crying, and wouldn’t sleep all night as if he knew something was wrong,” Caitlin wrote on Twitter.
The next morning Harry accompanied the family to the veterinarian’s office where George was quietly put to sleep; Harry didn’t leave his pal’s side. For weeks Harry seemed to be grieving and would barely socialize or eat his treats.
And now, even after a year, Harry sleeps on the floor to the side of George’s bed. On Twitter, Caitlin posted the picture of George and Harry sleeping next to each other along with a photo of Harry sleeping alone next to the cushion with the following caption:
“I’m full on crying m…he always let George sleep there and he died almost a year ago and he still lies there.”
The post has gone viral, and our hearts collectively ache for this little dog who misses his best friend.
