A massive infection, determined to be antibiotic resistant MRSA, nearly claimed the life of a young German shepherd named Rex. It was six months ago that Rex was taken under the wing of the Atlanta Humane Society, which described Rex’s body at the time as appearing that it had been through a wood-chipper.
Fast forward to mid-December. The animal shelter happily announced that Rex has finally been nursed back to health – in fact, he is now available for adoption. On Thursday, the shelter stated:
Today, we are bursting with pride to announce that Rex has completely healed and is available for adoption! He has been through so much, and we believe he truly deserves the best possible home, so we have a few special requirements for his adopter. We are asking that those interested in adopting Rex come to our Howell Mill location to visit him at least three times.
Rex, and his care providers, fought hard to get him to where he is today. It took daily injections and medication to overcome the terrible MRSA infection, but the dedication of skilled doctors pulled Rex through. Look at him today!
