In Newton County, Missouri, an $8,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for skinning alive a family’s pet beagle. A press release issued on Wednesday by the Neosho Police described the disturbing event.
Last Monday, officers in Newton County responded to a call referencing possible animal abuse. When they arrived, they found a female beagle with her skin removed on approximately 75 percent of her body from her neck down; she was still alive. She was rushed to an emergency veterinarian where humane euthanasia to end her suffering was the only solution.
The beagle was traced to a home in Newton County where it has been determined he escaped from his home through an unsecured dog when the owners were away.
The Humane Society of the U.S. announced Thursday it is also offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction for the “recent cruel and thoughtless torture” of the beagle. Their reward is in addition to cash rewards currently being offered by the community’s involvement of $3,000.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Neosho Police Department at 417.452.8012 or the Newton County Sheriff’s Department at 417.451.8300.
Rest in peace little guy.
