A $6,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who shot and killed a bald eagle in Arkansas.
According to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, the bird was killed on March 28, and her body was found on the side of a road. Veterinarians determined the bird died from a gunshot wound.
“The female eagle’s body was found near a nest, and it is believed that the bird was tending the nest at the time of death,” the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission stated in a press release.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the AGFC’s Stop Poaching Hotline at 800.482.9262. All calls to the hotline will be kept confidential.
The Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act protects both species of eagle. The bald eagle is the national emblem of the United States in 1782; the birds were given legal protection in 1940. No one, without a permit issued by the Secretary of the Interior, is permitted from “taking” the birds. (this includes nests, eggs, molesting or disturbing the birds).
Amendments have increased civil penalties for violating the Act which includes a fine of $5,000 or one year imprisonment with $10,000 and two years in prison for a second conviction. Felony convictions carry a maximum of $250,000 or two years in prison.

There should be a reward for killing HUNTERS and POACHERS!
You got that right! Poachers should be hunted down and shot just like they do with the animals they kill. The trouble is, they pull their dirty work at night and Fish & Game or the Sheriff find a dead eagle or whatever those cruel (expletive deleted) killed.
So sad But most of the time the criminal is never caught
