Imagine how JayJay must be feeling after 500 days at a shelter. The five-year-old American Bull dog mix has been calling the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter home, but he wants a real home, and with the help of friends and neighbors, JayJay can have his dreams come true.

“JayJay has been adopted previously and returned through no fault of his own. He is learning focus, he loves playing on the agility equipment and just being out of his kennel,” advocates wrote on social media.

This boy knows multiple commands and walks well on a leash. He does need to be the only dog in the home, be with adults and does not do well with cats. To help JayJay, the shelter will provide three training sessions and an evaluation  of his needs to help with his transition from shelter life to his new home.

“500 days…
This is NOT a celebration…
This is how JayJay feels after 500 days living in the shelter.
500 days with no owner…
500 days with no windows…
500 days with no meet and greet…
500 days with no car rides…
500 days with no neighborhood walks…
This is what 500 days looks like for poor JayJay…
All bulldog lovers-please consider adopting JayJay and being his person.
He just needs a chance.”

Jay Jay was enjoying a walk with one of his shelter buddies. He does walk so nicely on a leash.
