Queenie’s soon to be tragic story isn’t unusual nor is irresponsible pet parenting. Surrendered to the San Bernardino Animal Shelter, her owner reported the young Chihuahua mix nipped their young child, but admitted the two had been left alone and unsupervised.

“They didn’t see what happened, but the child ran in crying and that was all it took for them,” wrote shelter volunteer Lois Chisholm on Facebook. “Instead of teaching the child the proper way to interact with a dog, or instead of training Queenie on how to retreat to her bed when the child becomes excitable, they leave this little dog in a scary shelter, trembling from fear and confused as to why she’s here.”

Check out Queenie’s short video and how loving this young dog is to everyone who handles her.

“My name is Queen and I am an unaltered female, tan Chihuahua – Smooth Coated mix. Shelter staff think I am about 1 year old. I have been at the shelter since Mar 08, 2018.” Queenie is estimated to be 10 months to one year of age. She has not had her rabies vaccination, and must remain in quarantine until March 17. She is not spayed.”

Per the shelter volunteers. “San Bernardino City Shelter, CA doesn’t have many networkers; we really need your help sharing our dogs. The local rescues are full and we’re in big trouble!”

Share Queenie’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friend, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives. It is heartbreaking to think this young dog could lose her life because her owners weren’t paying attention.

  1. Stupid backwoods parents. This happens more often than we think. Many parents today, if you can even call them parents, are letting their brats do whatever they want. These kids are growing up thinking the world owes them everything and that the world should adjust to them. God help us.

  3. Please, someone come to rescue, this video is heartbreaking, I would gladly adopt, immediately. I am sure the child is at fault, when I was young, my little dog bit my cousin & my aunt threatened to have my dog killed. I remember how frightening the situation was. Please, someone save this little one & just sent her to me here in Spokane

  4. Her formers don’t deserve her. They know nothing about dogs. Please find her a loving forever home where she will be loved and appreciated. It’s so sad she’s so scared. She’s an innocent.

  6. Sad, but all too common, story. I have to say I am appalled the shelter lets unaltered – and unvaccinated – pets be adopted.

    • The shelter will not adopt out this dog until she is vaccinated and spayed. All the shelter I have ever dealt with do that to save on pet overpopulation, and they have to be vaccinated before they can adopt them out… they could be sued if the dog had an infectious disease like rabies and it bit someone. Vaccination against rabies it is required by law in all states and if they are a legit shelter they vaccinate. No shelter I know of would adopt out dogs that aren’t spayed or neutered.

  7. And the dog pays for it by being dumped the parents should of been watching them how sad the kid was probably pulling on its tail or hurting the dog

  8. Shared on FB. It’s a shame Queenie gets punished for her owner’s stupidity. Never leave young children alone with a family pet dog, regardless of the size of the dog. This breed doesn’t tolerate being teased or tormented and will snap if the person/child doesn’t heed their warning. Treated with respect, these dogs make wonderful pets and very loving and loyal to their family.

  9. I grew up with small dogs and cats. My parents were VERY strict with us: no “tormenting” the animal (& if we did & were bitten or scratched, we were told that “served you right for pulling the tail, ears”)…….

Too many parents fail to instill respect for others (human or animal). They fail to recognize that their kids can and do hurt others…… the other person or animal is ALWAYS @ fault…….

I hope this terrified little furbaby makes it out of the shelter alive and is rehomed into a loving furever home…….

  10. Stupid F-ing ass—–!!!NEVER leave a kid and dog alone…Kid probably pulled the pup’s tail or worse……Dumb ass parents for NOT being in the room!Queenie,I hope you find a worthy home….

  11. Prime example of so called ‘parents’ who should have been aborted not birthed – there is nothing worse that idiots who have no idea how to supervise a child and/or an animal – these two brain dead fools will continue to procreate clones of their stupidity – this little dog is paying the price for these useless assholes – they are the ones who should be sitting behind bars, not an innocent dog – God only knows what really happened but I bet that this offspring was responsible for being bit – IF that ever happened. The douchebag parents probably don’t know what the word ‘discipline’ means. I hope this little dog gets a real chance to get a safe loving home, something she certainly did not have previously.

  12. I agree with everyone. These parents are stupid. They should never have let the children play unsupervised with the dog. They admitted they did not witness the incident so they do not know if it was the child’s fault. I always taught my children to handle and respect dogs and cats properly. Obviously these idiots did not.
