A woman in Augusta County, Virginia, has been arrested in a cruelty case involving the shooting deaths of six puppies. According to WHSV News, 39-year-old Betty G. Hemp, of Middlebrook, is believed to be responsible for killing the puppies, who were between four and six months of age.
On the Saturday before Christmas, deputies with the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 200 block of Troxel Gap Road – six hound puppies were discovered with gunshot wounds. The pups had been thrown over an embankment.
Hemp is facing numerous charges for the cruel incident including: six felony counts of animal cruelty and six misdemeanor counts of illegal dumping. Hemp was arrested on Thursday and has already been released on a $2500 bond.
